Experienced Professionals: Penelope, our shop owner, has been piercing professionally in the Valley since 1995. She is one of the first piercers in Massachusetts to become a member of the Association of Professional Piercers (APP) and continuously updates her knowledge to ensure the best possible body modification experience.
Community Engagement: We actively engage with and support our local community. As members of the MALGBTCC, we strive to contribute positively to our community and create a safe and inclusive space for everyone.
Custom Tattoo Art: Our team of skilled custom tattoo artists works closely with you to turn your artistic visions into stunning skin art. We prioritize a gentle and patient approach to make your tattoo experience as comfortable as possible.

Meet Penelope
Penelope, a Long Island, New York native, discovered her passion for piercing at a young age. She began piercing herself at 13, eventually realizing her true calling lay in helping others conquer their fears and express themselves through body art. She embarked on her journey to the Pioneer Valley in 1994, attending Hampshire College and securing a piercing apprenticeship in 1995.
After years of dedication, Penelope’s dream became a reality with the establishment of Haven Body Arts. With over 50,000 piercings to her name, Penelope is the most experienced piercer in Western Massachusetts. Her expertise covers a wide range of piercings, including complex surface work, custom bent multiple ear piercing projects, branding, scarification, and single-point piercings.
Beyond Body Art
Penelope’s influence extends beyond body art; she is actively involved in local legislation and regulations concerning body art in Northampton, Amherst, and surrounding towns. Her unwavering commitment to technique and cleanliness sets the industry standard.
Notably, Penelope is also the creative force behind Haven, the longest-running Goth-Industrial club on the east coast, in operation since 1996.
