Best of the Valley Rules:
1. Only one ballot per person.
2. The name and email address must be completely filled out. Your ballot will not be counted otherwise.

4. Clarity counts. We can't figure it out? We don't count it.

Haven Body Arts LLC is looking to hire counter staff!
The time has come for Haven to begin taking resumes & applications for front end staff! Right now we are looking for 2 part time employees, 15-20 hours each, to head up the front end of our studio. We are looking for friendly, motivated and outgoing people who are organized, great at multi-tasking, and are drama/drug free. Though this position is in a tattoo & piercing studio, it does not require that you be modified or have previous experience working in a tattoo shop. We will absolutely train the right person!
Duties / Skills:
Knowledge of body jewelry, size and style.
The ability to communicate the information and standards put forth by the studio.
Basic sales skills
Booking and scheduling appointments
Daily cleaning.
Miscellaneous tasks assigned by the management
Answering phones
*Internet / computer knowledge is a plus as well as photography / design although not required.
*Additional Training: The following training may be provided by the shop if the candidate does not currently hold these certifications. (All certifications are a plus but not required)
*First aid
*CPR
*Blood borne pathogens
Our front end staff will be the first people our clients encounter, so it is very important that you be clean, polite, fun & energetic as well as knowledgeable... We are looking for people who want to work with us towards the goals of the studio and plan on staying and growing with us over time.
It is important that you understand that this is NOT an apprenticeship! Though you will learn much about body modification and the industry, it will in no way guarantee you a position as an apprentice at any time.
We will be taking applications and resumes over the next week and then setting up interviews from there. The position will be available to begin after Halloween and will have a trial period to see how you work within our team. It is important for us to find the right people, we are prepared to take the time required to do so.
This job is a great opportunity for the right person to get to work in a unique and super fun environment and really get to enjoy what they do and where they work (as well as look the way they like, lol)! Yay! I look forward to hearing from you!

Haven is looking to hire Tattoo Artists...
Haven Body Arts is looking for 2 full time Tattoo Artists and guest artists to join us in the opening of this new studio. Haven Body Arts is in the middle of build out, but should be ready to open its doors mid to late October. I am looking for artists who are passionate about tattooing and who want to find a place where they have creative control over their art and really want to be involved with the space and the evolution of Haven Body Arts as a whole. It has been extremely important for me over the last 14 years of piercing in the Valley to be involved in all aspects of the industry and to offer the best, most progressive experience for my clients as possible. I am hoping to find tattoo artists that share that view. I recognize that the artists are the core of the shop, & it is very important for me to find people who are looking for a place to call home and that just love what they do. If you really enjoy doing your art, it translates into not only great tattoos, but a positive experience for our clients & this is what I'm looking for. The thing HBA has to offer, besides a beautiful shop & amazing location, is the chance to, even if relocating and starting fresh, have access to a large client base. I have done over 30,000 piercings in the valley over the years & i have found that my clients are extremely loyal and trust that any tattoo artist who is working with me will be top notch, and will provide them with a clean and fun experience (as well as a wonderful tattoo)!
Haven Body Arts is located in Downtown Northampton Mass. which is an extremely liberal, artsy town with 4 colleges and UMass Amherst all within a 20 mile radius, as well as many other community colleges close at hand. Northampton is known for being very eclectic & open and really is a wonderful place to offer body modification. We have many galleries, interesting boutiques & stores, & lots of amazing restaurants. I like to think of Northampton as kind of a bizarre little pocket of good within a sea of stupid...

It's official... I signed the lease for Haven Body Arts today! My new shop is located right in Downtown Northampton at 108 Main Street, right above the Mercantile and across the street from Urban Outfitters! This space is soooo beautiful, I can't wait to share it with all of you! I am super excited & am feeling so lucky that i will be able to do what i love out of a shop that is so gorgeous! I have been jealous for years of other piercers who get to work out of high end and artistic spaces, & now, after 14 years it is finally happening for me! I am thrilled to also announce that Beckie, my old apprentice, will be piercing along side me. It has been way too long since we got to work together, & with her by my side, HBA will be able to offer you the absolute best piercing staff in the Valley! I am looking to open in a month and at the very latest by Halloween...a Halloween grand opening in my world, couldn't be better! I am still working on so many things, including the website, & really... without you, the best clients ever, i won't be able to spread the word. So any help in that department would be greatly appreciated. I am also looking to the community to give me advice & let me know what u would like to see in this space.
